Dimmable PAR30 LED Bulbs

LEDtronics announces the latest additions to its series of energy-efficient replacements for PAR30-style light bulbs. The high-power Dimmable PAR30 is available in Halogen Warm White (2700 to 2800 Kelvin) and Warm White (3200K). These Dimmable PAR30 LED bulbs offer long-lasting durability, low power consumption and money savings. They run on standard 120 volts AC, requiring no special adapters, while only consuming 12 watts to a maximum of 15 watts.

These Dimmable LED PAR30 bulbs work with most standard 120 VAC dimmer units, giving you a full, smooth dimming range and directly replace standard halogens and metal halide bulbs up to 66 watts, providing a 75% energy savings on full brightness.

In addition, the Dimmable PAR30 series boasts an outstanding color quality, a focused beam of around 45 degrees, powerful 426 lumens (XIW) and 375 (XHW) lumens of brightness, easy drop-in installation in existing 26mm Edison or E27 European screw-in base sockets, and sturdy construction with UV-stabilized plastic lens over each of the five 3-watt, high-power Cree XR-E LEDs, encapsulated around a heat-sinking magnesium alloy housing.

Because LEDs have no filament, their solid-state design renders them impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an average lifespan of more than 50,000 hours (5.7-plus years), white LED bulbs operate more than 20 times longer than the equivalent incandescent bulb! Unlike compact fluorescents, LEDs contain no harmful mercury, and because they do not emit large amounts of heat, and no ultraviolet or infrared light, they protect what they are illuminatingeverything from priceless art to fresh arugula. This makes them perfect for use in museums, hospitals, offices or areas where UV radiation might degrade the surroundings (such as illuminating valuable artwork, wine cellars or food counters). The fact that they run remarkably cool also means they greatly reduce the fire hazard normally associated with the use of incandescent lamps.

Flourescent Light Bulbs - What a Bright Idea

Almost without a shadow of a doubt the best use that man has put electricity to is the creation of artificial light from light bulbs. Light bulbs brighten up our evenings and illuminate things in the dark. There are thousands of different types of light bulb available on the market today. LED, fluorescent, halogen and incandescent are probably the most widely acknowledged. The wide range and many varieties ensure that choosing the way to light your project is not a simple task.

If you use purely incandescent bulbs it is quite possible that simply choosing a high wattage will not give you the light to power ratio that you are looking for. You may not get enough light for the amount of money you are prepared to invest in power usage. Before you decide which bulbs you require you should make sure that you have considered fluorescent tubes. These are typically a lower wattage than standard lamps and so give a greater light output for less power consumption. How do they work? A fluorescent tube uses a completely different method to produce light than a standard incandescent bulb does. A fluorescent lamp has two electrical contacts at either end of a sealed glass tube. The tube contains a mixture of gases and has an electrical charge placed across it. This causes a flow of electrons from one end of the glass tube to the other. These electrons bump into the other molecules in the tube and excite them causing them to agitate the phosphor coating of the inside of the tube and causing the phosphor to emit light.

DC12/24V LED Strip Lights

Based on the latest improvements in LED lighting is to produce a warm light color, not blue and white and early LED. Now this may allow users to reduce lighting with LED bulbs to replace the linear transformation costs.
If possible, would make more sense to simply keep the existing LED strip lighting and light bulbs upgrade. New lamp replacement costs are significantly higher than that of the entire lighting system installed less the costs involved, and it is easy to install LED festoons the provisions of the existing linear bar 12VAC or 24VAC current work.
LED replacement lamps use less than incandescent and xenon festoons force, and does not produce harmful UV rays. Only trace amounts of thermal signals, they have become a favorite retailer, in the display of sensitive items to showcase. A luxurious LED replacement bulbs will be used by an incandescent bulb is only 10 percent of the energy required, representing a sharp decline in electricity costs, whether it is rapid recovery of the initial purchase of the investment.
This is what is often complex and would have been a demand for additional equipment, cost more money and heavy equipment, it is difficult to cover the current design challenges, a simple upgrade. This is not consistent with the latest generation of luxury so LED lights. A professional lighting manufacturer, for example, to make energy-saving lamps LED replacement of the existing exchange of straight lines.
This
These new bulb replacement provides superior advantages, mainly due to use of a unique engineering design flower color LED lamps. Each unit consists of combining placed near each other to produce a high strength, low-voltage light radiation field of six diodes.
The LED current work at the lowest level, are specifically intended to eventually replace the 5 to 7 watts of incandescent and xenon were flower color. Because they do not need to DC inverter, because they are equivalent to replace the smaller the larger transformers, dimmers, replacement of the LED lamp consisting of high-intensity lighting, low profile design and synthesis.
In only 0.6 watts, a new, luxury lighting, 2700K the LED lights for the 7-watt dual-tip to produce the same brightness flower color, while at the same time reducing the power consumption of 4 times! This makes this the first choice to replace LED bulbs for fixtures to minimize the visibility of a new generation of designers of all ages aesthetics.
5 million hours of LED strip lights instead reduced by an average of 500 for lights and Xenon festoon lamps by 200 per cent spent more than incandescent lights cycle. It is not unusual lighting of the light bar at the best level for ten years continuously.

Choosing the Right Light Bulb for the Right Application

Introduction:

Other day a person from eco awareness promotion group preached me to move from Incandescent bulb to CFL saying they were eco-friendly and the Incandescent bulbs where hazards. Innocently enquiring more information of the hazards materials used in Incandescent bulbs and how CFL where safer over their competitor, reveled to me that he was not aware why the CFL is called eco-friendly.

"A typical tungsten filament incandescent lamp usually convert only about 2% of its electric power to visible white light, rest of the energy is converted as heat to provide for warming up your room" Mallickarjuna.A.S

The CFL & Tube-light are generally called energy saving light. Fluorescent lamps convert more electric power to visible light than does the incandescent lamps. A typical tungsten filament incandescent lamp usually convert only about 2% of its electric power to visible white light, rest of the energy is converted as heat to provide for warming up your room, whereas typical fluorescent lamps convert about 22% of the power input to visible white light. Clearly the CFL is far better in power to light conversation efficacy.

Eco-Safe & Eco-Friendly:

These are two distinct meaning and are always confused as given in my introduction; there are two meaning to talk about eco-bulbs.

1. Power Efficient Less power is needed, thus less power generation in the powerhouse, so less use of fossil fuel, nuclear, water etc. the government in many countries are forcing its citizens to use CFLs to lower the Carbon Emissions.

2. Environmentally Safe These bulbs can be disposed to earth safely without fear of chemical hazard. If large quantities of energy-saving light bulbs are allowed to go to landfill, the mercury could contaminate and cause damage to the environment.

"The warm glowing incandescent light bulb of Edison that we are familiar with for about 150 years, which is eco-safe is not talked much today unlike Florescent lamps that uses neurotoxin Mercury (Hg) is popularized as eco-friendly"- Mallickarjuna.A.S

When a bulb industry is doing its marketing talk it's generally about power efficiency, people generally confuse this with Safe Disposal. E-waste disposable or Safe Recycling is still a alien language in many countries and florescent bulb manufacturers are actually not bothered what you do with your used bulbs, because they feel it's the new owners property rights. So in this article I want to emphasis the key difference between Eco-friendly and Eco-safety of light bulbs and the other important parameters required for choosing a light bulb for home/office/shop/street/path lights etc.

The warm glowing incandescent light bulb of Edison we are all familiar with for about 150 years that is eco-safe is not talked much today unlike Florescent lamps that uses neurotoxin Mercury (Hg) is popularized as eco-friendly.

"E-waste disposable or Safe Recycling is still a alien language in many countries and florescent bulb manufacturers are actually not bothered what you do with your used bulbs, because they feel it's the new owners property rights"- Mallickarjuna.A.S

Disposing the Energy Saving Light Bulbs:

Energy Saving Light bulbs function in much the same way as a fluorescent tube. They contain aminute amount of mercury approx 5 milligram of mercury. This mercury allows them to deliver their substantial energy saving benefits. These light bulbs shouldnotbe put in the normal household waste. A more environmentally friendly and responsible way of disposal is to ensure that the light bulbsare recycled at the end of their life, either at your local authority Household Waste Recycling Centre or e-waste recycle centre.

Scientists at the Health Protection Agency have reviewed the potential health effects of mercury exposure from broken compact fluorescent light-bulbs. They found the exposure is likely to be very small - and much lower than from other broken mercury containing products such as some types of thermometer and barometers. Professor Virginia Murray, Consultant Medical Toxicologist, said: "Compact fluorescent light-bulbs contain a tiny amount of mercury - roughly enough to cover the tip of a ball point pen. A small proportion of this could be released into a room if the bulb is broken, but this does not pose a health risk to anyone immediately exposed.

"As a precautionary measure, the HPA advise that the room should be ventilated and the bulb cleaned up and disposed of properly."

The clean up should involve:

On hard surfaces wipe the area with a damp cloth, place that in the plastic bag and seal it.

Sticky tape (e.g. duct tape or similar) can be used to pick up small residual pieces or powder from soft furnishings and then placed in a sealed plastic bag.

The plastic bag doesn't need to be air tight, but should be reasonably sturdy. Place it in another, similar bag and seal that one as well (again, this minimises cuts from broken glass). The public should contact the local authority for advice on where to dispose of broken or intact CFLs as they should be treated as hazardous waste.

New Energy Saving Light bulbs and Fluorescent tubes sold today now carry the following informative mark as a reminder that they should be recycled separately.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs:

In the EU, CFL's are rated as either A or B in their energy rating system (i.e. the most energy efficient in their class), with halogen bulbs getting a D-rating, and the old incandescent getting and E or F-rating! They are reported to use as little as 20% of the energy of a standard light-bulb - so reducing running costs of offices and retail outlets greatly!

According to the US Department of Energy, if we all switched our five most-highly used light bulbs to compact fluorescents, we would save enough electricity to shut down 21 power generating plants which is about 800 billion KWh (kilowatt-hours). That means a lot less carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides going into the air and causing problems like climate change, acid rain, ozone and contaminated fish. Not to mention the money we'd save on our monthly electric bills.

Choosing for Light Bulbs:

Choosing a light bulb/lamp with fixture requires the following careful considerations:

1. Color Rendering

2. Visible Light Spectrum

3. Color Temperature

4. Power Efficiency

5. Power Factor

6. Life expectancy

7. Start-up Time

8. Light Diffusion

9. Lumens

Fig-1 Kelvin color temperature scale and how it relate to the type of lamp & natural light

1. Color Rendering - Color rendering Index CRI is to measure how well light sources render the colors of an object appear to human eye, and how well subtle variations in color shades are revealed. The higher the CRI rating is, the better its color rendering ability and is expressed as a rating from 0 to 100 on the Color Rendering Index.

The test procedure involves comparing the appearance of eight color samples under the light in

question and a reference light source. In short Color Rendering Index is a way of measuring how

well a given light source will make colors appear when viewed under the light source.

2. Visible Light Spectrum - Cover the range of wavelengths from 390 - 750 nm (nanometers). The sun emits most of its radiation in the visible range, which our eyes perceive as the colors of a rainbow. Our eyes are sensitive only to this small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Your lighting requirement falls within this range.

3. Color temperature - Is expressed on the Kelvin scale (K), is the color appearance of the lamp itself and the light it produces. Imagine a block of steel that is steadily heated until it glows first orange, then yellow and so on until it becomes white hot. At any particular time during the heating process, if we measure the temperature our block of steel in Kelvins (Celsius + 273) and assign that value to the color being produced. This is the theoretical foundation behind color temperature.

Lamps with a lower color temperature (3500K or less) have a warm or red-yellow/orangish-white appearance. The light is saturated in red and orange wavelengths, bringing out warmer object colors such as red and orange more richly.

Phillips Light Bulbs

Phillips Electronics has been an innovator in lighting for almost 120 years. Today, they produce light bulbs that cover almost every conceivable need. The types of lighting that Phillips manufactures include industrial, retail, commercial, home, outdoor, automotive, LED, sports complexes, and airfield. Phillips offers a wide variety of bulbs and lamps, many of them useful in multiple areas.

Industrial, Retail and Commercial Lighting

One industrial lighting solution that Phillips offers is ceramic metal discharge halide (CDM) lighting. These bulbs use metal halide salts that vaporize at a high temperature, creating a daylight like light that is more energy efficient than a comparable incandescent bulb. Phillips All Start Technology creates long lasting lights that are good for use on outdoor signs, and industrial or retail spaces where high ceilings make frequent bulb changes impractical. Phillips CDM lamps are retro fit to existing ballasts, and can be used immediately.

More industrial lighting options include Phillips T5 HO fluorescent lamps that are long life and energy saving , and their Extreme Temperature lamps that maintain their lighting ability even in very hot or very cold temperatures. Tuff Guard coating on fluorescent and incandescent bulbs makes these lights shatter resistant, and ALTO Technology fluorescent lamps are manufactured with low mercury.

MasterColor is a Phillips brand that includes PAR lamps, pulse start lamps and CDMs that are useful for lighting merchandise in retail stores.

Home Bulbs

Phillips lights are also prominent in home lighting, and offer many options, including energy saving bulbs.
Dura Max bulbs last longer than standard incandescent bulbs and are available in all bulb types used in the home, including fan lights, decorative reflectors and soft white used in fixtures and lamps. Natural Light bulbs are used to create lighting that is similar to sunlight. Dura Max Plus bulbs last additional time, up to two years.

Halogena and Halogena Energy saver lamps are halogen lights for home use. Halogen bulbs are long lasting, produce a bright white light, and are dimmable. Phillips halogen bulbs include vanity lights and outdoor flood lights. Halogena energy savers can achieve up to 42% energy savings, are also dimmable, and available styles include candle shaped and classic A shaped bulbs.

Another eco-friendly alternative is Phillips Energy Saver line of compact fluorescent bulbs. These bulbs are Energy Star qualified, last up to ten times longer than standard incandescent bulbs, and are available for almost every home use. Styles include twister bulbs, classic A shaped bulbs, decorative candle, globes, reflector floods and outdoor bulbs.

HomeLight is Phillips brand of standard sized fluorescent bulbs for residential use. In addition to the all purpose soft white and cool white fluorescent tubes, Phillips offers a Natural Sunshine color that simulates natural daylight and Daylight Deluxe that is a cool bright white light. Like their industrial counterparts, HomeLight bulbs are manufactured with Phillips ALTO reduced mercury technology.

LED

Light emitting diodes were once limited to watches and electronic display panels. But with improvements in technology, LED lamps are now available in a broad array of lighting products. Phillips manufactures LED bulbs for home, industrial, and commercial use. Advantages to LEDs include long life, energy efficiency (up to 80% savings), minimal heat, no UV, no mercury, and LED doesnt fade colors.

Phillips AmbientLed bulbs are LED lights designed to fit into existing home fixtures, including decorative sconces, chandeliers, recessed lighting, and track lighting. The Affininum line makes LED lights available in commercial settings by placing them in aluminum posterbox modules. These lights can then be placed in the perimeter of a display sign, sending light across the display. The Affinium LED String Systems are designed to light up lettering for store or brand names. Affininum LED bulbs are also in modules to replace fluorescent bulbs in refrigerated display cases. Advantages include customers, workers and food not being exposed to mercury or other hazardous substances should a florescent bulb break.

Phillips Endura LEDs are suitable for low level ambient lighting that would be needed in retail stores or hotel lobbies where lights must remain on at all times, or where frequent bulb changing is difficult, such as in high ceilings, or stairwells. As with other Phillips lights, EnduraLED retrofit into existing fixtures. Available lamps include spot lights, 10 or 25 angle beams lights, accent, candle, and A shaped bulbs.

Automotive Light Bulbs

Phillips manufactures a wide range of halogen and incandescent bulbs for use in consumer motor vehicles. In addition to standard bulbs, Phillips offers an array of specialty lamps.

Ecovision bulbs use less energy than standard halogen lamps, and Longer life have twice the life span of standards. X-treme Power bulbs emit up to 80% more light, and Crystal vision bulbs emit a brighter white light. BlueVision lamps appear blue/white for high performance cars as do Xenon HID bulbs, which also provide twice the light of standard halogen bulbs.

Vision plus bulbs emit a beam that is 50 feet longer, and Night guide lamps emit a three toned beam; yellow, to the left for decreasing glare from oncoming cars, bright white in the center to improve vision and a blue toned light to the right to improve visibility of road signs. MotoVision bulbs are manufactured specifically for motorcycles.

Outdoor, Airfield and Sports Arenas

In addition to MasterColor CDM lights, Phillips offers the CosmoPolis Outdoor lighting system. These can replace older quarts, mercury or sodium halide bulbs with a miniature metal halide bulbs and optimized electronic ballasts. Advantages include better quality light, long life, energy savings and compact size.

For stadium lighting, Phillips offers the ArenaVision MVF403 lamp with its MasterColor halide bulb and seven precision beam distributions, and the Arena Eclipse, which also uses a halide bulb and has a shutter for instant on and off. The F Eclipse, originally developed as an industrial flood light, is useful for smaller stadiums and arenas.

Phillips Airfield line includes lamps for taxi, runway, and airport approach. Halogen and standard incandescent bulbs are available, as well as Long Life halogen airfield bulbs. Long Life halogens last twice as long as standard airfield lamps and are lead and mercury free.

These are only some of the bulbs and lighting solutions available from Phillips Lighting. Phillips continues to be a leader in consumer and industrial lighting by combining innovative ideas with a commitment to eco- friendliness and sustainability.

How to replace car headlights

You may find the amount and quality of lights emitted by your headlights are not sufficient enough and not helping you much. For all these obstacles and experience, you may jump in to take a decision of replacing your cars headlights. Replacing your cars headlights is not a simple decision to take. It includes the lighting system apart from changing the bulbs itself. Replacing a headlight is therefore change of entire lighting system. Sometimes replacement of headlights will also trigger replacement of corner lights, taillights and other kind of automotive lights as well. Before you decide to replace your cars headlights think what changes you want to make by replacing. For example, if your headlights are halogen based then you may want to replace it with the xenon lights. Since most automakers these days are making their cars and automobiles with xenon lights replacing the halogen, therefore an example from the same will help you to understand the matter better. And always better understanding is wise decision maker. Ok, let us switch to our main topic. There are multiple reasons that strongly backs the halogen headlights replacement with a xenon headlights. Xenon bulbs give brighter and clear lights. They lit up very quickly. They last longer than halogen bulbs. A record shows that xenon lights are five times brighter than halogen lights and xenon life last ten times longer than halogen headlights. Considering the output rate, xenon bulbs are economical than halogen bulbs and require less energy consumption. Though a halogen headlight and xenon headlights work in similar process, xenon headlight produces better result if the lighting system is completely converted and replaced for it. So, one must think before replacing your cars headlights. Because, all the replacement plans aim in single objective of better performance. Unless your replacement efforts give you improved result, the replacement cannot be said as effective. People want to increase the effectiveness staying efficient by any replacement thoughts. Replacing halogen headlights with a xenon headlight set is best plan always.
